EIT RawMaterials

EIT has been a longterm client with USU GmbH, so that when I joined the project, there was a lot of legacy material to work with and around. As they’re trying to address a very varied field of users, EIT has several platforms to reach them. This includes the website, an infocenter for networking and keeping up with publications, and a newsletter.

I have been involved in creating all three of them. Below you can see the latest design for the public EIT RM website. EIT wished to stay as close as possible to their old CI while giving the website a fresh look. With a large number of stakeholders being involved in the decision making process, we went through many iterations on the new concept and design, presenting versions that focussed on storytelling, interactiveness or had a modular approach to the website elements.

The main challenge in this project was building a design system that is flexible enough to work for all of EIT’s different communication channels. Managing to make the very wide field of topics accessible to the different audiences they’re intended for was another challenge - startup booster calls, explanations about sustainable mining and EU committee events all stood next to each other and fought for attention until we found a way to structure the site and make it navigable for everyone.
